you say you’re tired of it all
after, what?
four months?
five?
but what if,
what if
this was just your normal life?
trapped at home,
afraid to go out
but not because of something terrible
out there;
trapped behind doors you willingly lock
because of something unbearable
in your own mind?
vague dread.
chains made of thoughts beyond control.
hopelessness that eats desire.
not even caring enough to despair.
i’m sorry the world might kill you
if you wander about as you used to.
have you never wondered
about those who never wander
yet consider that being eaten by a virus
would be another choice
for escape?
