trying to take seriously
that everything i learned
to take seriously
was wrong.
the only serious thing
about life
is death:
you can recover
from almost anything else.
(massive head trauma
is not to be taken lightly.)
rewiring my brain
to let go of the need
to believe there’s a need
for anything more than
staying alive
being healthy
and compassion.
selfishness and a refusal
to commit
to the false gods
of responsibility and morality
are easily amended
by any simple acts
of compassion.
can i live happily in a way
that lets you live
happily as well?
good enough.
job done.
that’s as serious
as i need to be.
